Buddies Arrive in Ghana! (Update May 2011)
In January our first shipment of Siren Sox Buddies arrived in northern Ghana! Thank you to everyone who contributed and made it possible for these children to have some toys to play with.

And we still need more...
The 400 buddies we sent were shared amongst all three schools, which means there was not enough for one each. So now we have a new challenge - to collect enough to send another batch out! On estimate, we need another 400 to supply the remaining children with one each - so your continued help is much appreciated!
Hi from Abi! (Update April 2010)
It is now over a year since I set up Siren Sox Buddies. It has been great fun making the buddies and also seeing all the creations that have been donated. Thanks also to the people and shops that kindly donated socks, soft toy filling etc.
Buddies for the Savannah Education Trust
We have had such a good response that we have decided to also collect buddies for another charity that we support as a family. The charity is the Savannah Education Trust (www.savannaheducationtrust.org).
A bit about Savannah
The Savannah Trust have built a school and provide a daily meal for the children in one of the poorest areas of Ghana. Prior to the school being built, during the dry season, the children often had to scavenge in the bush for mice, rats and birds to eat.
These children do not have any toys at all. We aim to try to collect 350 handmade soft toys to send out there in time for Christmas. This should provide one soft toy for each child.
Like Knitting?
If you are not so keen on sewing but enjoy knitting we will also be collecting knitted soft toys for Ghana. Knitted teddies should be between 5 and 8 inches in length please.
If you're stuck for a pattern, here are a couple to get you started:

As before, please fill your toys with soft toy filling, for eyes etc please use either felt or embroidery thread to stitch the features, no buttons due to the choking hazard. Any ribbons etc, must be securely sewn on.
All toys will need to be handed in to either the Loom Mill or Pumpkin Patch by the end of October 2010.
